About
Twenty years after 'Big Bang' in the City of London deregulated the financial markets, the legal profession of England & Wales is soon to experience its own seismic event: the Legal Services Act.
The British Government is currently pushing the Legal Services Bill though Parliament, with the intention of enacting the Bill by the end of 2007. The legislation is radical: in addition to reforming the regulatory structure of the legal profession and the way in which complaints against lawyers are handled, the profession will be able to practice from new business structures (Alternative Business Structures) that will enable solicitors and barristers to form business partnerships with each other, as well as with other professionals such as accountants.
To provide a single reference source, the Legal Services Reform Portal website aggregates the latest information, publications, research, commentary and views on the proposed reforms.
The Legal Services Reform Forum website is owned and managed by Intendance Research, a division of Intendance Limited.
