Alternative Business Structures
Alternative Business Structures (ABS) are new practices that allow different kinds of lawyers (solicitors & barristers) and non-lawyers to work together.
These new types of practices providing legal services include:
- Legal Disciplinary Practices (LDPs) with or without external management or ownership
- Multi-Disciplinary Practices (MDPs) with or without external management or ownership

Legal Disciplinary Practices (LDPs) – law practices which bring together lawyers from different bodies to provide legal services to third parties.
Multi- Disciplinary Practices (MDPs) - practices which bring together lawyers and other professionals to provide legal and other services to third parties.
