This year’s Times/One Essex Court essay competition asks for views on the Clementi reforms THE legal profession may be on the verge of a radical transformation. By the end of the year Sir David Clementi will publish his recommendations on the new regulatory framework for legal services in England and Wales. The conclusions he reaches are likely to shape the development of the profession for a generation ahead. But who will benefit from the impending changes? Will there be winners and losers? In particular, will the Clementi recommendations favour the interests of the public, the user of legal services, rather than the lawyers?
